During the period from January to March, the Julian Prealps Nature Park puts on, as an alternative to the usual skiing holiday, an extensive programme of winter excursions, ski tours and mountaineering. Participants will be accompanied by expert guides, who can provide information on the areas covered as well as guaranteeing an adequate level of safety. A calendar has been drawn up of all the tours and hikes to the most picturesque spots in the park, but there will also be free time for those who prefer to visit a particular place or peak alone or with friends or simply go for a walk immersed in the silence of an enchanting snow-covered wood. At the Prato di Resia Park’s Visitor Centre, hikers can make use of the 8 new pairs of "ciaspe" - snowshoes – available to rent by prior reservation, at the cost of € 5.00 per pair per day. A walk in the open air with snowshoes on can lead to fascinating explorations which are easy and within everybody’s capabilities. The snowshoes are light and have a firm grip, ideal for the powdery snow, although the 8 crampons guarantee a good hold even on the hardest snow. In addition, the pole tip facilitates walking up slopes. The snowshoes are a good alternative for those wishing to experience an exciting new adventure, because a hike in the park in winter is even more wonderful!
