Malga Coot |
|
|
Malga Coot is situated in the heart of the Julian Prealps Nature Park, at the foot of the Canin Massif.
Visitors, hikers and students who come to Resia Valley find a place, set against an unsurpassable scenic backdrop, which is unique of its kind, where the conservation and appreciation of nature, in all its different aspects, takes root and gains strength in the preservation and regeneration of domestic breeds at risk of extinction and of traditional livestock activities.
In this alpine pasture, containing areas reserved for the wildlife, graze the last remaining Resian cows, Plezzana sheep, goats representative of alpine stock, and horses of the Noric and Avelignese breeds. An educational trail gives you the opportunity to learn about the ecologies of these habitats as well as the origin, history and use of the domestic species here.
Other possibilities on offer are making cheese and other local products, horse trekking, hiking and participating in traditional mountain pasture activities.
