Within the Park area, for the same reasons as for the flora, Mediterranean, circummediterranean and oriental fauna coexist within the Park such as the Greek Partridge (Alectoris graeca saxatilis), driomio (Dryomis nitedula), Horvath lizard (Lacerta horvathi),
horned viper (Vipera ammodytes) and striped back mouse (Apodemus agrarius), of Euro-asiatic origin like the deer, snow field mouse and marmot (introduced onto M. Plauris in 1973, there are currently around one hundred) or glacial relics such as the stoat,
variable alpine hare and white partridge. All hoofed Alpine mammals (particularly abundant roe-buck, wild boar, occasionally deer and, introduced in 1989, rock goats), as well as wild cats, foxes, Mustelids (weasels, martens, stoats, badgers), dormouse, squirrels
and various Insectivores and Rodents. During the last two decades there have been numerous sightings of lynxes and brown bears in the Resia and Venzonassa Valleys. There are quite a few wild birds (eagle owls, tawny owls, little owl, Tengmalm's owl, golden eagles,
goshawks, sparrow hawk, honey buzzard and griffons vulture), Grouse (capercaillie, black grouse, ptarmigan, hazel grouse), Corvidae, Pěcidae and songbirds as well as many migratory birds. The herpetofauna includes numerous species of tailed amphibians (5), tail-less amphibians (7), Lizards (5), Snakes (5) colubrid snakes and (3) Vipers.
The entomofauna is also of interest, in particular the Beetles such as the rare Procerus gigas, Cychrus attenuatus, C. angustatus, C. schmidti, Carabus carinthiacus, C. siblings, C creutzeri, C. alpestris dolomitanus, Calosoma inquisitor, Leistus apfelbecki imitator, Pterostichus schaschli,
P. schmidti, Calathus glabricolis, Nebria diaphana venetiana, Trechus longulus, Long-Horned Beetles such as the Cerambix scopoli, Illorimus funereus, Toxotus cursor, Pedostrangalia pubescens, Leptura sp. and Butterflies and Moths such as the Hipparchia fagi, Brintesia circe, Erebia euryale, Pieris ergane, Parnassius apollo julianus,
